Ontario Curriculum
One of the most important elements of the Inquiry Process is the ability to formulate questions. Primary students may need simple thinking stems such as “I wonder…” and using the W5 (who, what, when, where and why) when creating questions. As students move into the junior grades, we want to help them expand their questions in order to be able to extend and synthesize their thinking around a topic.
According to the curriculum, students need to create questions that are connected to the overall expectations in a particular subject when conducting inquiry.
